Smartply T&G flooring is designed for floor decking where tight interlocking joints are important. The tongue-and-groove profile helps reduce movement between boards, supports faster installation and creates a more stable base for floor coverings.

Standard OSB full boards are better suited to general sheathing, hoarding, wall lining, roofing and utility projects where a tongue-and-groove floor joint is not required. Choose T&G flooring for floor decks and subfloors. Choose standard OSB sheets for general construction panels.

For general construction work without tongue-and-groove joints, compare with standard OSB full boards.

First, acclimatise boards to site conditions. Next, stagger joints and glue the tongue with a suitable D3/D4 adhesive. Then leave expansion gaps at walls and fixed upstands as per spec. Finally, fix at the recommended centres and seal any cut edges—especially in humid zones. Because the surface is already smooth, most finishes need only a light sand before covering. Using t and g flooring ensures a tight, professional finish with minimal movement.

1. What does T&G mean?
T&G stands for tongue and groove. One board edge has a tongue and the other has a groove, allowing boards to lock together for a tighter, more stable floor deck.

2. What is Smartply T&G flooring used for?
It is commonly used for subfloors, loft flooring, storage decks, workshops, garden rooms and timber-frame flooring projects.

3. Is Smartply T&G flooring moisture resistant?
It can be used in suitable humid interior areas when installed correctly, but unfinished boards should be protected from standing water and cut edges should be sealed where needed.

4. What size is the board?
This Smartply T&G flooring board is 2400mm x 600mm and 18mm thick.

5. Can I install it myself?
Yes. The tongue-and-groove profile helps boards fit together more easily, but always follow fitting guidance, leave expansion gaps and use suitable fixings or adhesive.

6. Is it better than standard OSB for flooring?
For floor decks, yes. The T&G edges help reduce movement between boards and create a tighter base than square-edge OSB sheets.
