Create flowing curves with ease using 5mm plywood. This 5mm flexible plywood full board is engineered to bend in one direction, making it perfect for arches, columns, curved furniture, and feature walls. The sheet is lightweight, easy to handle, shapes cleanly around a former, and has a smooth face that finishes beautifully with paint, veneer, or laminate.
- Easy forming: 5mm thickness bends readily for tight, consistent curves.
- Clean finish: Smooth faces for painting, veneering and laminating.
- Lightweight & workable: Cuts and sands easily; accepts glue, pins and staples.
- Reliable core: Uniform construction helps reduce rippling on tight radii.
- Great value: Full-size sheet gives maximum coverage with minimal joints.
Curved reception desks, retail displays, wardrobe surrounds, wall and ceiling rafts, column cladding, stage and exhibition sets, cabinet end panels, templates and craft projects. For exterior or wet-area work, use a suitably rated exterior panel and protect all faces and edges.
For best results, bend the 5mm plywood in its designed flex direction around a smooth former or ribs. Laminate two or more layers together with quality wood adhesive to “lock” the curve, then clamp or strap until cured. Always seal faces and especially edges after shaping.
Cut with fine-tooth blades; sand lightly before finishing. Fix with contact adhesive, PVA or PU where appropriate, plus pins or staples into supporting ribs. Prime before painting or apply veneer/laminate for a premium look.
See 8mm Flexible Plywood Full Board for larger radii.
1. Is it flexible in both directions?
No. This 5mm plywood is designed to bend primarily in one direction. Check sheet orientation when setting out your curves.
2. What minimum radius can I achieve with 5mm?
It allows tight curves, but the exact minimum depends on orientation, method and finish. Test on a sample and laminate multiple layers for very tight radii.
3. Can I use it for structural work?
Use 5mm plywood as a decorative facing over a suitable frame or substructure. It is not a substitute for structural sheathing.
4. How do I keep the curve permanently?
Glue two or more layers over a former and clamp until the adhesive fully cures. Sealing both faces helps stability.
5. What finishes work best?
Primer and paint, wood veneer, HPL laminate or clear coatings all work well. Sand lightly and seal exposed edges.
6. Is it suitable for bathrooms?
Only if used as a decorative skin over an appropriate substrate and fully sealed. For wet areas, choose moisture-resistant materials specified for that environment.
7. How is it supplied?
As a full-size board ready to cut to your project layout. For cutting services, see our Cut-to-Size information.
8. Do you deliver?
Yes. See Delivery & Collection for lead times, areas and charges.
