What sizes do plywood sheets come in?

Common boards are 2440×1220 mm (8×4), and Ply Direct can cut to any size you need. Thickness typically ranges from 4–30 mm depending on the material.

How much does a ply sheet cost?

Prices vary by material, thickness and dimensions. Enter your sizes on the product page for a live price or request a quote.

Can I get plywood cut to size?

Yes. Ply Direct offers accurate cutting on professional equipment for clean, splinter-free edges.

How is plywood different from MDF?

Plywood is made from cross-layered veneers for strength and improved moisture performance, while MDF is compressed fibres. Plywood is generally stronger and more moisture resistant.

Overview

Choose birch plywood full board when you need smooth, strong panels. Each board uses multiple cross-laminated birch veneers, so stability stays high and surfaces stay consistent. As a result, these sheets suit interior design, furniture, joinery, shelving and CNC machining. Meanwhile, the pale grain finishes cleanly with oil, lacquer or paint.

Available Thicknesses

To make selection simple, pick the thickness that matches your build:

9 mm – lightweight panels and internal joinery
12 mm – backs, partitions and general interiors
15 mm – furniture and cabinetry
18 mm – carcasses, shelves and worktops
21 mm – heavy-duty or load-bearing projects

If you already know your sizes, order cut to size for faster assembly and less waste.

Birch Plywood Grades Explained

For clarity, here’s how to choose a face grade:

BB/BB – Utility faces with patches and sound knots; ideal for CNC routing, construction and interior fit-outs.
S/BB – Cleaner top face with minor patches; great for painting or clear finishing.
S+/BB – Premium top face with no plugs; perfect for furniture and high-end work.

Specialty Variants

Film Faced Birch Plywood (Buffalo Board)
Because the phenolic film resists water, chemicals and abrasion, this panel excels in concrete formwork, industrial flooring and vehicle lining. In addition, you can choose smooth or mesh finishes with sealed edges.

White Melamine Birch Plywood
For a ready-to-use look, melamine faces provide a clean, durable surface. Therefore, it’s a smart alternative to MDF/MFC for shelving, furniture and carcass construction. It also machines well on CNC.

Why choose birch plywood full board?

Stays flat and strong: Cross-laminated veneers control movement and increase rigidity.
Saves prep time: Smooth faces accept paint, clear coats and laminates with minimal sanding.
Cuts cleanly: Uniform density delivers crisp edges and low tear-out on saws and routers.
Looks modern: Pale grain fits contemporary interiors and finishes evenly.
Covers many tasks: With 9–21 mm options, you can build everything from lightweight panels to robust structures.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is birch plywood used for?
Use it for furniture, cabinetry, joinery, CNC parts, shelving and structural panels. Because it is strong and stable, it performs well in daily use.

2. Which thickness should I choose?

9–12 mm: Lightweight panels and internal joinery
15–18 mm: Furniture and cabinetry
21 mm: Load-bearing or very robust builds

3. Can it be used outdoors?
Not directly. For exterior exposure, treat the board or choose film faced panels or another exterior-grade option.

4. Can I order cut to size?
Yes. Enter your dimensions on the product page and we’ll cut the panels for you.

5. What’s the difference between Film Faced and White Melamine?
Film Faced is industrial—durable and moisture-resistant. White Melamine is decorative—ready to use on interior furniture and shelving.
